SEJARAH PERKEMBANGAN STASIUN KERETA API GARUT TAHUN 1930-1983

Abstrak

Garut Station has been a mode of transportation since the colonial era, undergoing changes in function under Japanese occupation, and its important role after independence, until its closure. This study aims to provide an overview of the historical development of Garut railway station using historical methods. Garut Station plays a crucial role in agricultural distribution. It serves as a transportation hub connecting the local area with major cities such as Bandung and Jakarta. The station has been a hub for local economic growth since the 1970s, particularly in the agricultural, trade, and population mobility sectors. However, political instability, infrastructure decline, and natural disasters led to its closure in 1983.
