SEJARAH PERKEMBANGAN ORGANISASI HIMPUNAN MASISWA ISLAM (HMI) DI KABUPATEN GARUT TAHUN 1980-1986

Abstrak

This study aims to determine the history and development of the Islamic Students Association (HMI) organization in Garut Regency. This study uses historical research with the following steps: First, heuristics, Second, source criticism, Third, interpretation, and fourth, historiography. This study describes the history of the establishment of the Islamic Students Association (HMI) in Garut, and the Impact of the Islamic Students Association Organization on Government Policy in Garut Regency in 1980-1986. The results of the study show that in 1980 religious issues were still a hot topic and inVluential in various levels of society. The Garut Branch of HMI strives to carry out its role as a cadre and struggle organization, with a focus on fostering academics, creators, and devotees based on values, and contributing to the realization of a just and prosperous society. In 1980- 1986 the Garut Branch of HMI experienced signiVicant development. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of students who want to join the Islamic Students Association (HMI). In addition, since its inception, it has shown its involvement in overseeing every government policy in Garut Regency.
